A practical, hands-on deep dive into the hip harness: understand different types of hip harness structure, how they work, and why.
We’ll tie and compare a range of hip harnesses and look at what each one is actually doing. Where does the load go? How does it sit on the pelvis and legs? Where is the centre of gravity? What makes one comfortable and stable, and another one slip, pinch or dig in? We’ll cover the body mechanics behind it all, so you understand the principles rather than just memorising patterns. That way you can adapt a harness to different bodies and different suspensions, and fix problems when they come up.
Tickets are for pairs. Switching is welcome. You can also come as two self-suspenders who spot each other.
-
You need to be comfortable with attaching and locking suspension lines - but you don’t need to be advanced with suspension.
-
You’ll need around 4 ropes if you’re self suspending - more if you want to try the harnesses out with chest harnesses.
