Learn Shibari in Berlin
— Classes for Complete Beginners
Curious about shibari? Looking for a welcoming place to learn the art of Japanese rope bondage in Berlin? Whether you're just starting out, or have a little experience and want to brush up on the basics, our studio offers supportive, hands-on instruction through both 6-week shibari courses and flexible drop-in rope classes.
Our classes are taught from our beautiful, dedicated shibari studio in Neukölln, Berlin. We have a strong focus on developing solid, safe technique, whilst also emphasising consent & connection. Our space is open to all bodies, backgrounds, and orientations—no previous experience, no rope, and no partner is required.
Shibari Classes for Beginners: What’s Available?
-
The goal of these classes is to support regular, structured shibari practice that goes deep rather than broad—helping you build strong foundational skills, develop muscle memory, and connect with other participants. We offer two levels for beginners: Step 1 is for absolute beginners, while Step 2 is for those already familiar with the basics and ready to explore more complex techniques. Classes run weekly on Tuesdays and build progressively from week to week.

Not ready to commit to a full 6-week course? No problem. Our beginner-friendly drop-in rope bondage classes are a great way to try out shibari and get a feel for the studio. We offer both evening and full-day sessions, each led by one of our regular teachers who bring their personal style te each class and share what they love about shibari, all while creating a relaxed and supportive space for you to explore the basics.

Living outside Berlin but still want to learn shibari with us? Our weekend intensive workshops are designed to cover the same curriculum as our 6-week courses, condensed into a single immersive two day class.
These workshops are also a great option if you’ve taken a break and want to refresh your skills before moving on to the next level, or if you’re looking for a comprehensive overview of the basics in one go.

FAQs
-
No partner? No problem. When you're just starting out with shibari, it’s common not to have a practice partner—and the best way to change that is by coming to events and getting to know the community. You're very welcome to attend solo; many of our students do. In class, you can pair up with another solo participant, and we do our best to create a comfortable, inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.
-
No, we have ropes in the studio that you are welcome to borrow, and we also have rope available to buy at our classes.
-
It’s best to wear something that is soft and easy to move around in; we recommend that you avoid jeans, belts, underwires, and any large items of jewellery.
