Nocturnes: Intimate Shibari Salons at Daruma
Session 3: Mie Neko & Schlavendel
Doors: 7:30pm. Performance: 8pm.
- An exploration of connection, emotion and the intricate dynamics of power -
Mie Neko & Schlavendel take you on a journey to show their interpretation of Shibari. Rooted in the aesthetics of dance and the intensity of Semenawa, this performance unfolds as an intimate dialogue between control and surrender, precision and softness, tension and release.
More than a visual spectacle, this is an exploration of how the body is a vessel for intensity that serves as a catalysator for emotions we might avoid in our everyday life. Through rope, movement and the interplay of power dynamics, they create a space to encounter vulnerability, confront inner boundaries and explore the emotional depths that emerge when we allow ourselves to fully experience the present moment.
About Nocturnes
We believe that watching (and being watched) is an integral part of the shibari world. In many places, shibari voyeurs are as much a part of the scene as the people who practice it themselves. Watching can be powerful — not just for inspiration, but for the emotional journey the audience and performers go on together, and for the opportunity to understand the mindset of the artists involved.
But we also know that this kind of experience rarely translates well to larger audiences or noisy venues. For this reason, we’d love to make Nocturnes a regular event at Daruma. If you like this idea, we’d love to hear from you — and watch this space for more announcements.
