Two Perspectives on Bamboo Ties

Date & Time:
20th - 21st April, 11am - 4.30pm

Teachers:
Ztella (Saturday) & Gestalta (Sunday)

This two-part workshop offers an immersive exploration of suspensions that integrate bamboo into the body, from two distinct tying styles and perspectives.

This two-part workshop offers an immersive exploration of suspensions that integrate bamboo into the body, providing two distinct tying styles and perspectives.

Day one, taught by Ztella, focusses on a crucifixion tie, demonstrating how to utilise the harness to torsion the body effectively.

On day two, Gestalta will incorporate bamboos into both the upper body harness and the legs, and use these to build a dynamic transition sequence centred around the Gyaku Ebi.

Each workshop session runs from 11am until 4.30pm, including time to take breaks. While both days can be booked individually, we highly recommend taking advantage of the discounted pre-release offer for booking them together, allowing for a comprehensive and immersive experience.

Further Details

DAY 1 - Crucifixion Harness and Torsioned Suspension
In this class, participants will learn a unique upper-body harness that effectively and safely secures a person into a bamboo. Alongside its distinctive feel, a well-tied crucifixion harness is often more sustainable—both due to a lower risk of nerve damage and as it can offer significant upper body support.

The first half of the workshop will focus on mastering the harness itself and securing uplines to it. During the second half, participants will delve into a suitable suspension sequence that beautifully incorporates the bamboo element.

DAY 2 - Integrating Bamboos into Dynamic Transition Sequences
In this class, participants will learn to incorporate bamboos into both the upper body and the legs with suspensions and transitions in mind. After practicing the harnesses, participants will be guided through a transition sequence based around a Gyaku Ebi, which showcases the range of possibilities these harnesses have for smooth movement, and getting creative in the air.

We look forward to welcoming you to this information-rich weekend of bamboo ties, suspensions, and dynamic transitions.

Prerequisites

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants, certain prerequisites must be met. People tying must have prior experience with suspensions, knowledge of securely attaching uplines to bamboo hardpoints, and effective communication skills with their partners. Individuals being tied should be familiar with their body in ropes, including the ability to recognise nerve and circulatory issues, and have prior experience with suspensions. It is essential for both partners to engage in a thorough pre-negotiation, openly discussing any physical or psychological limitations, injuries, or concerns that may impact the ties.

Switching

Switching between partners during the workshop is welcome, although it's important to note that it will result in less time for each participant to practice the tie. We recommend only switching at the start of a new exercise, rather than within the same exercise

Pricing

160€ per couple for the entire weekend.

Tickets for each individual day will be released closer to the time at 100€ per couple, per day.
